Saint Lucian reggae artiste Semi has a new focus and is now singing for the conscious at heart with his new single “Love is the Key” .
Semi has produced two albums “Collections 1,& 2” with executive producer Yves Lewis and a string of hits including his chart topper “Put Yourself In My Place”. He’s acquired a wealth of experience as a musician having worked the hotel, club and cruise ship circuits, which eventually led to his migration along with the band Summit to the United Kingdom.
With managers Pam and Paul Castle, the band appeared on many high profile shows, one of them being the BBC’s pebble Mill and through publisher David Most, the group signed a recording contract with RCA records. Since then Semi has performed alongside the best in the business - Sanchez, Gregory Isaacs, Culture, John Holt, Shaggy and Wyclef Jean. Semi drew further recognition with his band Oct 4 when he performed at the opening of the St. Lucia Jazz Festival.
Semi now back in St. Lucia, after recording and performing in Boston under the WildCubby music label has accepted the higher calling and has returned to his spiritual roots . Says Semi, “fulfillment in life is knowing one’s self”.
The future is expected to see Semi taking on new challenges. He is now laying down tracts for his first conscious album in his very own home recording studio. The first single off the album is titled “Love is the key” a track promoting gratitude to the creator
and one love to all mankind. Semi says he wants to help spread this message of love through the Caribbean and the rest of the world.
The artist has already assisted young and upcoming performers by producing a CD compilation “M 4 C” which featured nine of The Island’s young artist.
Semi has also produced for a number of other artist including Nintus, Pelay, TC Brown Dot.K, Ben Alcide, Special Blend, Emrand Henry and Elra Ermay to name a few.
