Modern Rock / Grunge
Open Chapter consists of four creative individuals, persistent to bring their story, original lyrics and music into the heart of mankind. Manny, Abel, Paul and Dmyke_____ are the crucial elements that make up the band and its personality—a new page in the “now” of rock music.
Open Chapter is often asked how they came up with their name. Manny and Paul are huge Shinedown fans and really like the song “Fly from the Inside”. In the song there is a line that says, “I am focused on what I am after, the key to the next open chapter.” Paul says, “It made sense to name the band Open Chapter to signify the end of the Last Chance and the beginning of something new.”
Manny and Paul originally formed Last Chance in high school to enter a talent show. They developed the song “Just a Man” and it won the first talent show. The guys were hooked on perfoming live shows. Since then, these guys have drawn the attention of colleges, churches, the GLBT scene, animal rights activists, biker bars, radio, tattoo shows, television stations, and press. It is a counter-culture pleasure to hear Open Chapter's songs. Generally, you have to be invited by a friend to find out about these guys. Open Chapter is an underground word of mouth phenomenon.
The music itself is reminiscent of early grunge rock. It has a dark quality relying heavily on angst-filled lyrics, reverberated vocals, feedback and distortion. The songs are strong and in-your-face. The sound is highly addictive. The lyrics are a mix of sorrow, loss, anger, bewilderment, apathy and even empowerment. “Our songs really mirror situations or time frames in our lives...some good, some bad,” says Manny.
With “heart created” instrumentation and an attuned ear for original rock music, Open Chapter combines the sound of drums, vocals and guitars, resulting in their new CD titled Falling To Be Held, all while crafting a tightly produced hook. The music and lyrics of Open Chapter are emotion magnets. This is the ultimate rock band, attracting fans, friends, and five-star album reviews all over the world.
