Every song has a message and every message has a motive. Joshua Alexander Washington was born on June 28, 1991, just outside of Washington, D.C. in Silver Springs, Maryland to Steven and Pamela Washington. At the young age of one, Josh loved singing and dancing in his diaper to his all-time favorite performer’s songs, Michael Jackson. He also enjoyed playing a small keyboard he received as a Christmas present, which really sounded less like a piano and more like a xylophone. Shortly after Josh turned five years old, his family relocated from Maryland to a small suburb in the Kansas City, Missouri area.

As a young child, Josh had several leading roles in his church’s performances. He attended a small, private Christian school for many years, where he was bullied by other children and scolded by adults. These negative experiences inevitably pushed Josh away from his true calling and into a very dark place. After a near-death experience at the age of 17, Josh decided to take charge of his life and told his mother he was going to change the world through music. He hasn’t looked back since!

When Josh was 19 years old, he and his family returned to Maryland, along with his elderly grandmother, who had been suffering from dementia since the death of his grandfather in 2001. As a result of this sudden move, Josh and his family lost many of their possessions, ranging from clothes and furniture, to memories contained in family pictures and home videos. All he and his family members had left were the outfits they wore the day they moved and the little money they had in savings.

Nearly four years after moving and rebuilding his life, Josh is now creating fun, upbeat music that people of all ages, races, and genders can enjoy. His music spans all genres, from pop/rock to rap, and even a little country. To date, Josh’s Youtube channel ‘malachimuzik’ has over 200,000 views and over 1,500 subscribers. He has a strong social media presence that is gaining momentum daily. Josh is the sole author of his new single “Can You Feel It,” which was produced by ‘Rex Riot’, the instrumental creator for the Nintendo Wii U commercial and mixed by Baruch Nembhard. Chris Gehringer, who has worked with the likes of Drake, Lady Gaga, and Demi Lovato, mastered the song. Josh is now performing whenever and wherever he can, diligently trying to increase his fan base.

At the present time, Josh aspires to one-day sell out the Sprint Center in his hometown of Kansas City. He also wishes to spread a message of love across the world and let the youth know that they don’t have to do things out of their character in order to fit in or achieve popularity. Josh dreams of making a difference not only within the music industry, but also on a global scale. He hopes that his pathway to success will inspire others to strive to reach their goals, while still maintaining their morals and good intentions. Ultimately, he hopes to serve as an example that there is a light at the end of the tunnel for those who work hard and make good choices in life, not just negative consequences for those who do wrong.
