Letitia Lindeque
Centurion Gauteng, South Africa
Pop / Techno
Letitia Lindeque was born with a song in her heart, on 15 September in East London, in the Eastern Cape. She was blessed to have been born into a musical family, with her father having had band exposure and being an accomplished guitar player and her mother playing the organ and keyboard.
She was exposed to many different musical styles at a young age and was surrounded by the sounds of artists such as Elvis, Cliff Richard and the Shadows, the Beatles, Nana Mouskouri, Abba, the Bee Gees, Ballyhoo, PJ Powers, Sonja Herholdt, Laurika Rauch, Four Jacks & A Jill, Roy Orbison, Diana Ross and many more.
Her love for music progressed naturally and she started playing piano and keyboard “by ear” when she was very young and taught herself most of what she knows today. She played the recorder in primary school and performed in school productions. In high school she completed her grade 4 in piano and was choir leader for two years. She performed at various charity functions and events with the choir as well as solo. She also performed around her home town with other artists of the area.
Being an 80’s and 90’s child, she drew inspiration from the many talented artists of the day, such as Depeche Mode, Moby, Enya, Vangelis, Celine Dion, Cher, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Dire Straits, David Bowie, Prince, Queen, Paula Abdul, Michael Jackson, Natalie Cole and many more. During her life she performed live on many occasions and also collaborated with other artists. She has done voice over work and backing vocals for studios and other musicians.
Letitia describes her musical style as “varied” and composes songs in genres such as acoustic, blues, soft rock, pop, pop/rock, adult contemporary, dance, club, electronica, esoteric as well as Afrikaans. Letitia focuses on lyrics and melody and enjoys taking the listener on a musical journey. Her warm, soulfully smooth lyric soprano, easily captivates audiences. Her ability to portray emotion in her performances and in her compositions attests to her love for music. She describes herself as being “a passionate person who believes that music carries with it a tiny echo of the creator’s soul”. Letitia hopes most of all to touch the world with her music.
