Emperors of Japan
Phoenix Arizona, United States
Indie Rock / Experimental
Emperors of Japan are a three-piece experimental rock outfit from Phoenix, AZ. They formed in early 2005 and bring a lot of influences to the table, including bands like the Pixies, Menomena, Radiohead, Queens of the Stone Age, Death From Above 1979, Autechre, Aphex Twin, Nirvana, Broken Social Scene, and Secret Machines. Mostly it’s big guitars, keyboards (synthetic and organic), distorted bass, acoustic and electronic drums, some samples, loops, vocals with the occasional falsetto, and xylophones.
EOJ has amazing ability to bridge the best parts of early college radio rock with modern pop experimentation. They come highly recommended for anybody who remembers when "alternative" meant something.
